Cesena midfielder Marco Parolo has hinted that he held talks with Chelsea this summmer regarding a move to west London.
Although the Italy international admits that no negotiations between the two clubs actually took place, he has suggested that informal discussions took place.
"Chelsea? It was flattering to be linked with them," said Parolo.
"But it was more talk than actual negotiations. It's nice, however, for your form to be recognised."
The 26-year-old found himself consistently linked with Chelsea during the transfer window as Andre Villas-Boas looked to add more penetration to his midfield.
Eventually this came in the form of Valencia winger Juan Mata, who joined Chelsea for a fee in the region of £23 million.
The signing of Mata was followed by that of Raul Meireles on deadline day, who handed in a transfer request at Liverpool in order to force a move to Chelsea.
