Dutch dangerman eyes Liverpool return

Tottenham Hotspur star Rafael Van der Vaart has insisted he is ready to return to action for his side's game with Liverpool next week.

The 28-year-old Dutchman has been sidelined with a hamstring injury suffered in the Barclays Premier League opening day defeat to Manchester City last month.

Van der Vaart was initially expected to be out for around six weeks, but having recovered quicker than expected he is keen to play for Spurs in the mouth-watering clash against Liverpool at White Hart Lane this weekend.

"I have been treated intensively by [Tottenham physiotherapist] Dick van Toorn," he told the club's official website. "I was able to do proper turns again and regular sprints. Next weekend seems like no problem to me!"

Liverpool have started the 2011-12 campaign promisingly after going into the international break undefeated with seven points from their opening three fixtures.

But after losing 1-0 to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium last Saturday, Reds boss Kenny Dalglish will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend.

After watching his Spurs teammates record their first victory of the season in last weekend's win at Wolves, van der Vaart is hoping to be recalled by manager Harry Redknapp when they host Liverpool in Sunday's lunchtime kick-off.
