Manchester City fans have had their say on where they think their club will finish in their first Champions League campaign; and most are hoping for at least the semi-finals.

In a Givemefootball survey answered by over 2,500 fans, 36.7% believe that City will get through to the semi-finals, in a sign that while the Eastlands club isn’t quite yet at the stage of Barcelona, Manchester United or Real Madrid, fans are still expecting that after spending over £70 million on new signings this summer, Roberto Mancini will be able to defeat most of the opposition throughout Europe.

28% of fans went so far as to say they believe City could win the Champions League trophy, particularly after the spectacular start they’ve had to the Barclays Premier League season, amassing 15 goals in four games.

After missing out of qualification in the tournament at the last minute to Tottenham two seasons ago, and then finally securing it from their league rivals the next year, it’s clear fans have placed high expectations on their stars to deliver on the European stage.

10% believe that City will be knocked out in the quarters, while a minimal 5% think they won’t last the round of 16. 4% think they won’t make it through the group stages.

City face Napoli tonight in their first European match for the season, with the club currently preparing for their first European home match before travelling to Germany two weeks later to play Bayern Munich.

It was recently revealed that City fans are the most satisfied in the Barclays Premier League, and they clearly hold great hopes for their side this season, in both England and abroad.
