Burnley manager Eddie Howe has reportedly been running the rule over Manchester United starlet Paul Pogba, having made a visit to Moss Road to watch midfielder in action.
According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Howe had Pogba in his sights as United's second string beat their Fulham counterparts in the Premier Reserve League on Monday night.
The 18-year-old, who has steadily worked his way up through the United ranks, is the current captain of France under-19s and would bring an extra energy to the Burnley midfield.
Pogba has recently been added to the first-team squad at United, and has been training with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidic to prepare him for an eventual senior bow.
And, says Sir Alex Ferguson, Pogba may be provided with an opportunity to prove himself this season.
“Pogba’s in the first-team training set-up now, so that’s the first step,” said the United boss.
“After that, it’ll likely depend on when we decide to make changes.
"He’ll probably be involved in the League Cup and that’ll be his chance to establish himself in the squad.”
