Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have been alerted to Stevan Jovetic delaying to sign a new contract with Serie A side Fiorentina.
The 21-year-old Montenegro international, often compared to Roberto Baggio, has been on Liverpool’s radar since scoring both goals against them in a UEFA Champions League match back in 2009.
Former Fiorentina defender Roberto Galbiati has spoken to Italian television about the interest of Barclays Premier League clubs in the player, and confirmed that Arsenal rivaled Chelsea with a deadline day bid.
“It’s not only Chelsea who want Jovetic, but Arsenal also," said Galbiati.
“Arsenal, on the last day of the summer transfer market, submitted a bid to Fiorentina but the club refused.”
The agent of the versatile forward has revealed that with Fiorentina not in Europe this season, the player is in no hurry to sign a new deal.
“He still has two years left to run on his present agreement,” Jovetic’s agent has said.
“I have no meetings set up with the club about this matter.”
Jovetic missed the whole of last season with a cruciate ligament injury, but is now looking to get his career back on track.
