Leigertwood: We must improve

Reading midfielder Mikele Leigertwood has given a blunt and honest verdict of the Royals', and his own, performances so far this term.

The Berkshire side have lost five consecutive matches in all competitions and go into this weekend's home clash with Doncaster without a victory at the Madejski Stadium all term.

And Leigertwood admits Brian McDermott's men need to desperately improve, saying: "I know if I am not playing well then I don't deserve to be in the team. I've got to work hard enough to keep my spot and play well and that goes for everyone."

He added: "You compare yourself to what you did last year and if I am totally honest with myself then I`m not up to scratch.

"A lot of us can say that and we recognise that - we are not stupid enough to think we are doing well. We know we are not doing well enough and we want to put it right."
