Maguire scoops monthly gong

Sheffield United's Harry Maguire has won the young player of the month award for August.

The 18-year-old defender has played every game so far this season, scoring one goal against Oldham and helping the Blades keep three clean sheets.

Sheffield-born Maguire was amazed at picking up the accolade, saying: "Winning this award was a big surprise."

He added: "I am becoming more confident with every game.

"I am a young lad who is still learning but as I gain more experience I should become a better player."
