Gunners manager 'sympathetic' over exit talk

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits he has sympathy for the situation Blackburn manager Steve Kean has found himself in recently.

Rovers fans are calling for Kean to be sacked, after the side endured a particularly poor start to the season.

And Wenger knows exactly what it’s like not having the fans on side, with Arsenal fans berating the Frenchman at times over his spending tactics.

"It is hard for everybody, even for those who manage for 30 years," Wenger said. "I just believe this job is difficult.

"Everyone who has been in it knows it, and how much depends on the situation you are in at the moment.

"I have a lot of sympathy for Steve Kean. He is a young manager and you want to give him time to do his job.

"A lot of time you complain the British managers do not get a chance and I can understand that but when they do get a chance you must give them time."

Arsenal went into overdrive on deadline day to make signings after they lost to Manchester United 8-2, and Gunners fans’ satisfaction has improved since Wenger spent big.

But with Arsenal still suffering from a lagging start to the season, if their results don’t pick up soon, Wenger will be prepared for fan unrest once more.
