Toon boosted after striker exit talks agreed

Papiss Demba Cisse has agreed to a new contract with Freiburg allowing the striker to leave if the right offer comes along.

Freiburg sports director Dirk Dufner told Kicker that Cisse was now open to the possibility of leaving the German side next summer, "as long as it's in the region of his market value."

Newcastle had openly been pursuing Cisse, but were unable to come to an agreement over a fee. The Senegal international’s contract is until summer 2014, and hasn’t been extended.

Newcastle were unable to land a striker on deadline day, and will be hoping over the next season to finally find a replacement for the departed Andy Carroll.

And should the Toon still be looking for a striker in summer next year, Cisse will no doubt be a top target for Newcastle manager Alan Pardew.
