Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean believes the future is looking bright at Ewood Park - and not just because of their 4-3 win over Arsenal earlier today (Saturday).
Kean highlighted a handful of young players at the club, including Jason Lowe, and the Blackburn boss revealed that another academy product is just like Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.
"Like Arsenal we are developing young players. I think we are trying to buy and play younger players and develop their talents. Phil Jones, for example, did not have a squad number when I arrived and now he is worth £20 million," Kean told ESPN Soccernet.
"Then there's also Junior Hoilett, Martin Olsson, Grant Hanley. Look at Jason Lowe who will play tomorrow (on Saturday). I have a 16-year-old who is like Steven Gerrard at his age. The thing we have to do is get in the top half of the table this year and invest in 24-28-year-olds that hold the young group together."
Whilst Kean declined to give the name of the player, the reference to the Liverpool midfielder highlights the developments being made at the club.
As for Gerrard, he's just hoping to get back to action for the Reds, with the Liverpool midfielder closing in on a first team return after six months out through injury.
Kenny Dalglish admitted he wouldn't rush the player back into action this weekend, but is hopeful Liverpool will be able to call upon their captain in the Carling Cup against Brighton.
