Morecambe took an outright lead at the top of the npower League Two table with a creditable 2-1 win away to Dagenham and Redbridge.

The Shrimps went into the weekend level on 17 points with Rotherham but while the Millers only drew at Torquay, Jim Bentley's side took full advantage.

Rotherham were involved in a 3-3 draw at Plainmoor. Lewis Grabban and Ryan Cresswell put them 2-0 up within 10 minutes and after Billy Bodin (11) quickly pulled one back, Grabban (34) restored the two-goal cushion. But the Gulls fought back as Kevin Nicholson made it 3-2 before the break and Rene Howe hit the equaliser less than two minutes into the second half.

Earlier, Shrewsbury went third with a 3-2 win away to fellow high-fliers Port Vale. Marvin Morgan (three) and Mark Wright (14) put the Shrews 2-0 up before Ben Williamson (26) reduced the deficit. Lionel Ainsworth (50) made it 3-1, though, and Williamson's late second proved immaterial.

Early goals by Ajay Leitch-Smith and Byron Moore handed Crewe a 2-0 win at Accrington while Oxford were 2-0 winners at Barnet despite the injury-time dismissal of Jake Wright and Aldershot won 1-0 at Bristol Rovers through Alex Rodman's goal.
