Chelsea knocked out of £40m striker race – report

The Daily Mirror is claiming that Neymar will sign for Real Madrid tomorrow, after finally coming to a decision over where his future lies.

Transfer rumours have been surrounding the striker during the summer, but have gotten stronger recently, with numerous European clubs fighting to secure Neymar’s signature.

Chelsea appeared to lead the race amongst the English clubs, but Barcelona and Madrid were both seen to be front runners.


And while Roman Abramovich had reportedly taken a personal liking to Neymar, and was willing to spend big money to bring the youngster to Chelsea, Madrid have stolen the march on their rivals and hope to lock Neymar into an agreement for January before Chelsea and Barcelona have a chance.

Neymar is said to have a £40 million buyout clause in his contract, an amount that Jose Mourinho is very happy to pay to get the 19-year-old Brazilian on side.
