Yakubu has promised Blackburn Rovers supporters there is more to come after the Nigerian striker netted a brace against Arsenal on Saturday.
Rovers' deadline day signing from Everton was handed his debut by Steve Kean and responded in some style as the home side emerged victorious over Arsenal at Ewood Park.
Blackburn had been trailing 2-1 at half-time, but responded in impressive fashion to take all three points in a thrilling 4-3 victory.
And it was Yakubu who earned the plaudits at full-time after instantly endearing himself to the Blackburn faithful.
“I have nothing to prove to anyone – I know I can score goals," said the 28-year-old.
"It is just unfortunate that I did not get the chance to do that at Everton where I did not play for almost a year because of a serious injury.
“Thankfully, Steve Kean has given me the chance to play week in and week out back in the Premier League and that is really, really great for me.
“I always believe I can score whatever team I play for.
"To have the opportunity to play for Blackburn is a great feeling and to be scoring again back in the Premier League is great.”
