Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is set to be offered a two-year contract worth £13m a season by Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala, according to the Metro.
The free-spenders' billions have already tempted the likes of Samuel Eto'o and Roberto Carlos to the club, and with Frank Lampard also in their sights, Gerrard is the next man being targeted.
The 31-year-old has been out of action since March, and the signings of Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson during the summer transfer window is likely to make getting back into the first team a struggle despite Gerrard's iconic status at Liverpool.
The Liverpool midfielder's international future is far from certain either, given the emergence of Jack Wilshere and Fabio Capello's insistence to play Scott Parker in the holding role in midfield.
Without Gerrard, Liverpool have begun the season in inconsistent fashion, going unbeaten for their first three league matches, before crashing to successive defeats to Stoke City and Tottenham Hotspur.
