Arsenal are interested in signing Juan Manuel Vargas from Fiorentina, according to talkSPORT.
The club's defensive problems have led to criticism of Arsene Wenger's summer signings, which include Per Mertesacker and Andre Santos.
Vargas had been linked with Arsenal on several occasions this summer, and reports in Italy claim the club will go back in for the Peruvian in the new year.
The 27-year-old can play in either midfield or defence, and may be utilised in Arsenal midfield to allow Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere license to go forward.
Vargas isn't the only Fiorentina player that reportedly interests Arsenal, with Riccardo Montolivo allegedly ready to leave Serie A in January.
