Athletic Bilbao remain confident Fernando Llorente will extend his stay with the club, despite the striker being unsettled by summer interest from Tottenham.

The Spain international - who scored 21 goals for club and country last season - is contracted to Bilbao until 2013 and club president Jose Urrutia is certain Llorente will pledge his loyalty once more.

Urrutia said: "We are 100 per cent sure he will renew."

Llorente was one of several forwards targeted by Spurs during the transfer window as Harry Redknapp scoured the market in search of goalscoring reinforcements.

Spurs were reported to have made an enquiry as the the availability of the 26-year-old, but were unable to strike a deal to bring him to White Hart Lane.

Redknapp instead turned his attention to Emmanuel Adebayor, who joined Spurs on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

The 27-year-old has made an instant impact since joining Spurs; scoring three goals in his two outings for the north London club so far.
