Chelsea target Marco Parolo has spoken about a potential move to Stamford Bridge and hinted that the Barclays Premier League would suit his style of play.

Parolo is somewhat of a late bloomer having made his Italy debut at the age of 26 in March of this year, but is reportedly attracting plenty of interest.

The midfielder has also revealed his admiration for Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard who he could go up against in the middle of the park if the Blues target makes the move.

Andre Villas-Boas was said to be interested in the striker who is currently plying his trade in Serie A for Cesena, who finished 15th last season.

Parolo said: "I am not your traditional Italian midfielder as I have a lot of different characteristics than others. I really admire Liverpool's Steven Gerrard.

"The Premier League and the Bundesliga are leagues where they play a type of football that's very similar to my style.

Andre Villas-Boas was said to be interested in the midfielder who is currently plying his trade in Serie A for A.C. Cesena, who finished 15th in the league last year.

But Parolo is signed up with Cesena until 2015 and feels a duty to repay the Emilia Romagna club he has made 58 appearances with over two years. Despite his interest in the English game, he is also cautious of making a big club move at this stage in his career.

He continued: "Chelsea are a very big club and I still have plenty of progress to make before I'm ready for a team like them.

"Let's not get carried away and take one step at a time. I'm feeling very well at Cesena for now and want to repay them for the faith they've shown in me."
