Ray Wilkins has insisted that Fernando Torres is improving for Chelsea, and the former midfielder believes it’s only a matter of time before Torres will be a scoring star for the Blues.
“There’s no question that Fernando Torres is showing signs of improvement, Wilkins told Talksport.
“There was a dribble just after his miss where he volleyed the rebound over the top. That was Fernando Torres back to his best. He didn’t score but he went past two players, got the shot off and was there for the rebound.
“I thought he worked extremely hard in the second half and looked a good player.”
Chelsea signed Torres in January for £50 million, and the striker has scored just two goals since. While he has started the majority of matches for Chelsea, and this season has made some top-class assists, the Spaniard has been unable to find the back of the net on more than one occasion in the last five games.
Rumours have started circulating that Chelsea may sell Torres in January, but Andre Villas-Boas has insisted that the side have faith that the 27-year-old will come good for the west London side.
