Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson is considering recalling David Ball from Rochdale in order to allow Nicky Ajose to leave London Road on loan.

Ball has scored three times during his brief spell at Spotland and Ferguson may now bring the striker back into his Posh ranks.

"I've let David Ball go out and get some football at a decent level and he's done very well," Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

"It might be a case of David coming back and Nicky going out."

He added: "I've got to consider the players and I've got to keep them up to scratch, maybe the month away will have done David some good."

Ajose has made only one appearance for Posh since his permanent move to the club from Manchester United in the summer.

The 19-year-old had spent a spell away from Old Trafford with Bury last season before Sir Alex Ferguson allowed Ajose to leave United for pastures new.

Ajose failed to make a single first-team appearance for United during his time with the club, having come through the Red Devils' ranks alongside the likes of Danny Welbeck and Ben Amos.
