Peterborough striker Nicky Ajose has joined Scunthorpe on loan.

The former Manchester United trainee is reunited with manager Alan Knill at Glanford Park, where he will remain until January 2, 2012.

Ajose played under Knill during a loan spell at Bury last season and scored 13 goals to help the Shakers clinch promotion as runners-up in League Two.

Several weeks out with a hamstring problem means Ajose is short of match fitness at present.

The 19-year-old, who joined Posh from Manchester United in a £300,000 deal in the summer, started the first match of the season against Crystal Palace but was substituted early on after suffering the injury.

He has not made an appearance since but has played in two reserve-team friendlies in the last fortnight.

He could make his debut for the Iron when they host Yeovil on Saturday.
