William Gallas is closer than ever to recovering from injury, with the defender playing a full 90 minutes for Spurs in a friendly against Brentford on Tuesday.
Gallas made numerous positive contributions to the side, and despite losing to Brentford 2-1, the second-string squad may provide the springboard for the former French international to make his return against Wigan this weekend.
Gallas sustained a calf injury last season, and missed the start of Spurs' campaign as a result. Harry Redknapp will no doubt be looking forward to the 34-year-old returning, with Tottenham having conceded eight goals so far this season.
And with Tottenham looking at a busy schedule involving Europa League matches alongside Barclays Premier League games, Spurs will be needing Gallas’ services to keep as much depth in the squad as possible.
The side were also boosted by Sandro making his return against Stoke on Tuesday night, with the central midfielder playing 71 minutes for Tottenham. Redknapp will be spoiled for choice and taking full advantage of the ability to rotate his squad.
Two youngsters that Redknapp will no doubt call on will be Jake Livermore and Tom Carroll, who the manager reserved special praise for after the penalty shoot-out loss to the Potters.
