Jay Bothroyd has made a vow to finish in the Barclays Premier League top ten at the end of their campaign, as QPR pick up their form after being promoted to the top flight last season.
Big name signings Joey Barton and Shaun Wright-Phillips have given the side a much needed boost, and after the Hoops defeated Wolves 3-0 over the weekend, Bothroyd believes they can not only stay in the top tier, but in the top half of the table.
“We're still learning each other's games, but the ability we have came together at Wolves - we played with confidence and fluidity, and our work rate was fantastic,” Bothroyd said.
“Not many teams got results there last season. I've played for Wolves in the past, and their fans turn it into a fortress, so it was important we got those early goals as the fans started getting on their backs.
“With the players we've got, we want to push up the table. We're not going to get carried away, but a top half or a top 10 finish would be great, and would give us a platform for next season.”
QPR are currently sitting ninth in the table, and face Aston Villa at home this weekend. They then travel to Craven Cottage to play Fulham. Bothroyd will no doubt be looking to pick up maximum points from both matches.
