Valencia midfielder Daniel Parejo could be close to a move to Arsenal, according to The Daily Mail.

The Spaniard, formerly of Real Madrid, only joined Valencia during the summer, but is willing to make a move to England.

He did have a spell at Queens Park Rangers, but now appears set on a move to Arsenal, as he looks to improve his chance of competing in the football competition during the London Olympics.

Reports suggest a fee of £7 million would be able to secure the signing of the 22-year-old, who played a part in Spain's victorious Under-21 European Championship team.

Representatives from Arsenal and Valencia reportedly met on Thursday and Friday to try and thrash out a deal.

Fellow countryman Mikel Arteta was drafted in to Arsenal to help replace Cesc Fabregas, who moved to Barcelona.
