Bayern Munich have joined the race for Chelsea full-back target Gregory van der Wiel, according to talkSPORT.
The Dutch defender has been tracked by The Blues for some time, having been ever-present for Ajax during this season league campaign.
And given their problems filling the right-back position, Chelsea were seen as leading contenders for the 23-year-old.
However Chelsea face competition from Munich, a team whose defensive record has been superb this season.
The club have gone 838 minutes without conceding a goal, and feel Van der Wiel would assist to further tightening that back line.
Chelsea's defensive problems this season could force them into a move in the January transfer window, with Lewis Dunk also a reported target.
