We need three points, says Anderson

Manchester United welcome UEFA Champions League football back to Old Trafford when they entertain Swiss side FC Basel this evening.

The Group C table-toppers come to England in confident manner off the back of their 2-1 win over Otelul Galati in the opening round of fixtures, but Brazilian midfielder Anderson insists the players will be doing everything they can to pick up three points.

"We have to win against Basel on Tuesday," he told ManUtd.com. "It's important we pick up our first three points and get to the top of the group because you never know what can happen in the Champions League. Tonight is our first home game in front of the fans and we need to win it.

"I don't know a lot about Basel but if a team is in the Champions League that means they have quality. No matter who you play, you always have to do your job and everyone has to play well."

After seeing their 100 per cent start to the season brought to an abrupt end at Stoke in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday, Anderson has urged his teammates to get back to winning ways tonight.

"It would be nice to score early," he concluded. "That always helps. We must do our best and make sure we win the game."
