Roma are being linked with a loan move for Totenham Hotspur striker Roman Pavlyuchenko.
The Russian forward has struggled to secure a first-team place at White Hart Lane under Harry Redknapp, with constant speculation surrounding his future and a possible return to Russia.
However, reports in Spain today claim that AS Roma are the surprise front-runners in the race to land Pavlyuchenko.
The report goes on to claim coach Luis Enrique is hoping to bring the player away from Spurs on a loan deal, with a view to a permanent switch from White Hart Lane being completed in the summer.
Whilst Redknapp admitted during the summer transfer window that he was looking to shuffle the attacking pack at Tottenham Hotspur, a failure to replace the sold Peter Couch could mean he's reluctant to let the Russian leave north London.
With European commitments in the Europa League on the Spurs table, bodies will be needed to maintain a strong challenge in all competitions, meaning Pavlyuchenko may have to stay until the summer at least.
