Manchester United v FC Basel

Manchester United welcome Basel to Old Trafford tonight in their first Group C home game of the Champions League campaign.

Sir Alex Ferguson is without several players, including Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez, meaning Dimitar Berbatov will likely start.

Rio Ferdinand and Phil Jones are almost certain to continue in defence with Nemanja Vidic, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans all out injured.

Bayern Munich v Manchester City

Manchester City are also in Champions League action tonight, facing a Bayern Munich side who are in top form with six wins in a row.

Mario Gomez, Frank Ribery and Thomas Muller are set to form a strong attack, while Arjen Robben could also feature if ruled fit in time.

City meanwhile have undoubted fire power, but they face the imposing Manuel Neuer in goal - who has kept nine clean sheets in a row.

TRANSFER NEWS

Paris Saint-Germain are said to be preparing a bid for Real Madrid's Kaka, who is also being targeted by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

Bolton are keen on taking Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvy on loan in January, having helped develop both Jack Wilshere and Daniel Sturridge.

And finally, Chelsea are set to rival Manchester United for Everton teenager Ross Barkley, with reports suggesting a bid could even reach £30m.
