Sheffield United midfielder Nick Montgomery will return to action for the first time since late August when he turns out for the reserves on Wednesday.

Montgomery, 29, who has missed the last six matches due to an ankle injury sustained in the win at Yeovil last month, will play against Walsall reserves alongside fellow first-team players Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Ryan Flynn, David McAllister and Erik Tonne.

Reserve-team coach Chris Morgan told the club's official website: "It will be good for the lads to play at Bramall Lane and everyone will want to impress the gaffer ahead of a busy month for the first team."
