Liverpool and Juventus are locked in a battle to sign Lyon defender Aly Cissokho according to talkSPORT.

The 24-year-old French international has attracted plenty of interest over the past twelve months, and was heavily linked with a move to England in the summer transfer window.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish was keen to bring Cissokho to Anfield to fill his left-back void, but after a move to Merseyside failed to materialise, Liverpool opted instead to sign Jose Enrique.

However, reports emanating in France today suggest that Liverpool's interest remains after director of football Damien Comolli sent scouts to cast their eye over Cissokho in last night's UEFA Champions League encounter against Dinamo Zagreb.

The Reds could face competition for the player's signature from Serie A giants Juventus - who are also believed to have had scouts present on Tuesday evening.

The Old Lady are rumoured to be planning a January bid for the talented full-back, so Dalglish and Co. must move quickly and make a decision on whether or not they will place a rival offer.

Ligue 1 Lyon do not wish to sell Cissokho, but it is widely believed that they will not stand in the player's way if they receive a sizeable bid in the new year.
