Stoke will go into the match without Andy Wilkinson, after the right-back injured his thigh last weekend. Marc Wilson, Rory Delap and Matthew Etheridge are in doubt after taking knocks. Jonathon Woodgate was left out of the squad, and Thomas Sorensen will take Asmir Begovic’s spot in goal.

For Bestikas, Guti has not travelled with the side to England. Hugo Almeida is also out, and Bebe is still suffering from a long-term injury.

Pulis calls on fan atmosphere

Tony Pulis has called on Stoke fans to bring the house down tonight, as the club prepare to face Turkish side Besiktas at Britannia Stadium.

The Potters are looking at their biggest European match-up at home in a long time, and no one is more excited than Pulis, who hopes that the atmosphere can rival last weekend’s game against Manchester United.

"It will be a fantastic night, our biggest European home tie for almost 40 years," Pulis said.

"The challenge for our supporters is to generate as much, if not more, noise as their fans are sure to make out there.

"The atmosphere at the Britannia Stadium was incredible on Saturday and we need the place to be rocking again come Thursday."

Stoke fans have always played a big part in their team’s success, with Britannia Stadium becoming something of a fortress for opposition teams.

And while Besiktas are no strangers to crazy fans, with Turkey boasting some of the most fanatical supporters in the world, Pulis hopes that the louder the home following tonight, the harder it will be for the side to defeat Stoke.
