Derby County midfielder Ben Davies admits his renewed enjoyment of the game is the reason behind his impressive form in the Npower Championship.
Davies' best form since joining the club during the January transfer window has seen him clock up seven assists so far this season, with The Rams climbing to third in the table thanks to six wins from nine games.
After a tough start to his County career, Davis reveals he couldn't be happier with life.
"Last season was the toughest of my career but it's made me stronger and I'm enjoying the way we are playing," he said.
"Last year I probably wasn't fit enough - I was carrying a couple of niggles and knocks and needed the summer to get that right.
"It was hard when I came in last year. I wasn't enjoying my football as much as I do normally.
"When I'm enjoying my football, that's when I play my best."
Despite only drawing with Barnsley on Tuesday night, Nigel Clough's side are level on points with top two Southampton and Middlesbrough, but face a true test of their promotion credentials in their next two games, taking on pre-season favourites Leicester City and the leading Saints.
Davies is adamant if the team believe in their ability they can come out of the double header on top.
"We don't believe in ourselves enough sometimes," he added. "We are a young team and the lads do believe in themselves but sometimes you have to look round and see the type of players we have.
"The whole squad is talented and we can beat anyone in this league, we just have to keep proving it."
