Arsenal starlet Martin Angha appears to be closing in on the first team at the Emirates.

The Swiss youth international has spent the last fortnight training with the senior side, according to YoungGuns, and the defender is being tipped to make a breakthrough into the ranks, most likely in the Carling Cup.

However, his involvement in training ahead of the north London derby suggests Arsene Wenger has complete faith in the former FC Zurich youngster, who penned a professional contract with the Gunners back in March.

“I’m very happy and I’m very pleased because it gives me confidence and belief that the Club trusts me and wants to keep working with me,” Angha told the official Arsenal website at the time.

“I try to give everything, do my job properly and focus on the defensive work first. Most of the time, I play at centre back for the Under-18s but sometimes I play at full back."

Angha has got the nod from the Arsenal boss ahead of more senior 'youngsters', notably Danny Boateng and Sead Hajrovic, after impressing in his six reserve team performances last term.

The 17-year-old still has a long way to go before becoming an Arsenal squad regular, but the future looks bright for this versatile youngster at the Emirates.
