Anzhi Makhachkala have had an offer of £26 million turned down by Jose Mourinho for his coaching services, according to El Confidencial.
The Russian club sacked Gadzhi Gadzhiyev on Thursday, and are now on the lookout for a big money manager to take over a side that hopes to someday challenge for the Champions League trophy.
Mourinho, who managed Chelsea in 2004-2007, and is now currently at Real Madrid, has already reportedly been approached by Anzhi, but does not want to leave the limelight of La Liga or the Barclays Premier League for eastern Europe.
Anzhi have also reportedly made an offer to another former Chelsea manager, Avram Grant, to take over the reigns at the club. Grant is still high on the side’s list of favoured managers, though with Mourinho’s reputation from his days at Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, Anzhi were hoping his head may be turned by enough money.
