French playmaker Yoann Gourcuff is flattered by the interest Arsenal reportedly showed in him, but claims he's focused on regaining full fitness rather than a move to The Emirates Stadium.

After the sale of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, Arsenal spent most of the days running unto the transfer window deadline trying to expand their squad.

Gourcuff was one of those reportedly interesting Arsenal, and the Frenchman says the interest from Arsene Wenger was nice to receive.

"He is one of the top coaches in the world, he loves technical players so I am very, very happy to know that he was interested in me," he said.

"Now I am pushing to come back stronger for Lyon," he added.

Following his emergence on the international stages, Gourcuff's performance led the French media to label him the new Zinedine Zidane, and since Arsenal's interest has swelled.

Arsenal eventually opted to sign Mikel Arteta in the creative midfield role, however the club, following their dismal start to the season, are expected to spend again in the January transfer window.
