Roberto Mancini has placed Alessio Cerci as a top priority for the January transfer window, Talksport claims, with the club currently ‘strong favourites’ to sign the Fiorentina winger.
Cerci has starred for Fiorentina over the past year, and despite his contract lasting until 2013, rumours have continued to circulate that he will exit the club in the January transfer window.
City are ahead of numerous clubs around Europe to secure Cerci’s signature, and while the 24-year-old admitted to being flattered by interest of a move, he insisted he is concentrating on life in Italy.
"It was a real pleasure to be linked with a club who are as important as Manchester City, but Fiorentina are my present and future,” Cerci said.
But that reportedly hasn’t made Mancini give up hope on signing the star, with City hoping a deal can be agreed to as soon as next year’s window opens.
