Phil Neville has called on Everton to make a quick response after the international break, with the Toffees coming off a frustrating 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the Merseyside derby at the weekend.
Everton were down to 10-men after Jack Rodwell received a controversial red card against the Reds, and whilst the club have been successful in their appeal of the youngsters suspension, it will come as little consolation given the full-time result at Goodison Park.
Neville is looking forward to the tough match-up with Chelsea next week knowing a win can take the Toffees to the top half of the Barclays Premier League table.
"Take aside the sending off, and we gave away two bad goals and didn't play well enough on the day, and that is something we need to improve on," Neville told the official Everton website.
"We have to bounce back as we have Chelsea next and we have a run of games where we have to pick up points. We can't just say we will lose against the big teams and beat the lower teams because it doesn't work like that.
"We have to pick up points and play better, show a bit more composure at times and lift our performance levels.
"We will probably lick our wounds going into the international break but coming back I am sure the manager will have us fired up."
Everton currently sit at 13th in the Barclays Premier League table, and have collected seven points from six matches. While the Chelsea match will be difficult, Neville and Rodwell will be fired up to make sure they collect at least a point from the away trip.
