Inter Milan and Juventus are both reportedly planning January bids for Chelsea target Gregory van der Wiel.

The 23-year-old promised Ajax that he would not leave the Amsterdam Arena during the summer but the Dutch club are likely to have their resolve tested in the New Year.

According to talkSPORT, Inter and Juve are likely to start the bidding for the Ajax defender at around £11 million, while Chelsea continue to monitor him.

The Blues were linked with the Holland international during the tenure of Carlo Ancelotti at Stamford Bridge but, it would appear, their interest has not waned since the appointment of Andre Villas-Boas.

Chelsea are still thought to be keen on signing another full-back and, after Álvaro Pereira signed a new contract with Porto, van der Wiel could come back into focus.

Villas-Boas wants more competition for places in wide defensive areas while, it has been reported, the Portuguese is looking for a more capable alternative to current Chelsea right-back Jose Bosingwa.
