Newcastle have reportedly joined Liverpool in pursuit of Leicester teenager Jeffrey Schlupp.
According to the Daily Mail, the Barclays Premier League duo are both in the hunt for the versatile striker and Leicester are expecting January bids for the 18-year-old.
Schlupp is a product of the Foxes' youth Academy, and made his senior bow for the club in August - scoring a hat-trick in the Carling Cup - following a fruitful loan spell with Brentford last season.
The young German netted six times in 10 appearances for the Bees during his stint at Griffin Park and has since alerted the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle to his talents.
Liverpool have been linked with Schlupp for the past few weeks and, with Newcastle now alleged to be monitoring him, it could hasten the Reds to make a formal attempt to bring him to Anfield.
Newcastle, meanwhile, are expected to reinforce their goalscoring ranks during the winter after Alan Pardew's frustration at not being backed by the Toon board in the summer.
