Arsene Wenger has been in direct contact with the agent of Padova forward Ousmane Drame regarding a proposed move to Arsenal.

The 19-year-old Frenchman is in high demand, but Wenger appears to have moved to ensure the Gunners have first-choice on Drame.

And, when asked if Arsenal had been in contact about signing Drame, George Atangana confirmed as much.

"Arsenal? It's true, with the English club I'm working on him directly. Wenger and I talk about their interest," he told Mediagol.

"Then in Italy he is also liked by Fiorentina."

Whether Arsenal make a formal approach to bring Drame to the Emirates Stadium in January remains to be seen, but Wenger is expected to invest heavily in the New Year.

The Gunners boss is reported to be targeting Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze, while he is also keen on Lille playmaker Eden Hazard.
