Manchester City appear set to sign Raul Mendiola from Arsenal - although not the Barclays Premier League rivals you may think.
The 17-year-old plays for California-based Arsenal FC youth team, and has been earning rave reviews in America to alert clubs in Europe of his ability.
Citizens scouts reportedly spotted the player during the Generation adidas Cup in Texas, and Mendiola admits he's excited by the possibility of a move.
"I'm pretty excited," the Arsenal forward told TopDrawerSoccer.com.
"It's one of the top clubs in the world. I've been told that there's a possibility that I could be loaned out to (Espanyol) in Spain for a year, or I could stay with Manchester City."
To develop his talents, the player has spent time away from Arsenal recently to train alongside the likes of David Beckham at LA Galaxy, and Mendiola believes it's an experience that has been hugely beneficial.
"Every training session I've had to give it my all. I've been working hard, a lot on the defensive side. I'm looking forward to fulfilling my dream."
SkySports reports that the Arsenal player is now set to travel to England this weekend for talks at the Etihad Stadium.
Whilst unknown to the British public at the moment, the two-time U.S. Soccer Development Academy's Player of the Year in the U-15/16 category could represent a major coup for Manchester City as a star of the future.
