Chelsea target ready to sign

Daniele De Rossi is ready to snub Manchester City and Chelsea and sign a new deal at Roma reports talkSPORT.

The Serie A star has been coveted by both Barclays Premier League outfits, with both clubs keeping a close eye on how the Italian's contract negotiations materialise.

Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas is a known admirer of the tough-tackling midfielder, and is said to be keen to add him to his Stamford Bridge ranks, as doubts remain over the long-term fitness of Chelsea star Michael Essien.

Meanwhile Citizens chiefs have also been credited with a strong interest in the player, after Roberto Mancini identified him as a value-for-money signing that will seriously improve his playing squad at the Etihad Stadium.

Mancini is open to the idea of further adding to his Manchester City squad in January and an £8m move for the Italy international has been mooted.

It would certainly give Roma and Chelsea something to think about and, for now, contract talks have failed to reach a resolution.

"Everything is at an impasse," admitted De Rossi. "We have discussed the issue in recent weeks and I am sure we will find a good solution for everyone.

"I will not put pressure on Roma. I never said I would sign for another club and that's true - that would not be just, considering I get on with those in charge."
