Teams gunning for Hammers - Carew

John Carew admits West Ham are there to be shot at in the npower Championship this season.

Norwegian striker Carew grabbed his first goal in Hammers colours when he came off the bench to secure a 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

West Ham are among the favourites for promotion back to the Barclays Premier League and Carew knows opposition teams will raise their game when they face the east Londoners. He said: "In the Championship, we are almost like Manchester United in the Premier League."

Carew added: "Everybody wants to get points off us and will probably raise their levels slightly. It's always a challenge when you are favourites and probably the best team in the league - it's something we have to cope with."

Fellow Hammers striker Robert Hall, 17, has extended his loan spell at Oxford for another month.
