Mark Bradley has been added to Rotherham's list of injured defenders ahead of the home clash with Burton.
Bradley requires surgery after dislocating his shoulder during the midweek Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat to Sheffield United.
Fellow defender Ryan Creswell remains sidelined after missing the last three games with an ankle injury and Troy Brown is away on international duty with Wales` Under-21s.
Manager Andy Scott has only two fit centre-halves, Michael Raynes and Jonny Mullins, with the latter having only recently returned to action following a long-term knee injury.
Mullins started on the substitutes' bench in midweek but was pressed into action when Bradley was injured.
Midfielder Gareth Evans was also rested on Tuesday night but is expected to return to the side, as is goalkeeper Conrad Logan, on loan from Leicester, who made way for Andy Warrington.
Burton's defensive crisis has eased ahead of the trip.
Boss Paul Peschisolido has been boosted by the return from suspension of Ryan Austin and Aaron Webster.
They missed Saturday's 2-2 draw at home to Bradford after being sent off in the 3-1 defeat to Gillingham the previous week.
Tony James recovered from his knee injury for that encounter and will again play at centre-half, but fellow defender Nathan Stanton (hamstring) remains an absentee as he faces another couple of weeks out.
Winger Cleveland Taylor has recovered from the ankle injury he suffered in Burton's third game of the season.
He played 60 minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly against AFC Telford on Tuesday, though, and could feature from the bench.
