Manchester City target Maicon has moved to quash rumours of a possible exit from Inter Milan, insisting he’s happy where he is.
Maicon has starred for the Serie A side since signing with them in 2006. While transfer rumours have always surrounded the full-back, last summer he was particularly connected with moves to numerous clubs.
And while Real Madrid and Manchester City were said to be front runners for Maicon’s signature, with both City and Madrid able to offer top transfer fees and wages, the 30-year-old wants to stay in Italy.
"It was said I'd leave Inter but that was said by an agent who isn't my agent," he said.
"The only person that can talk about me and who can represent me is Roberto Calenda, my agent.
"There's no truth whatsoever regarding talk of me and a transfer, I'm working hard to contribute to this team and that's it.
"I've never thought about leaving, it's not true that I wanted to leave."
City will no doubt be considering another swoop in January to continue to push the side to challenge for trophies, and while Maicon insists he is staying in Italy, for the right price his head may be turned.
