Manager Martin Allen scooped September's npower League One manager of the month award and immediately set his sights on guiding Notts County to promotion.

Allen won the accolade courtesy of an unbeaten period, in which County won four and drew one of their five games.

In amongst that, Allen's men trooped off to Juventus and claimed an admirable 1-1 draw in a friendly which marked the opening of the Italian giants' new stadium.

Such impressive feats are a far cry from last season - when Notts went into the final game of the campaign needing a draw to ensure safety - and Allen is keen for his side to kick on even further.

"We set out at the start of the season to make sure we stay up," he told Sky Sports News. "It was not nice last season going into the final day against Brighton needing a draw.

"But if we can get to that 50-point mark as soon as possible, we will see where we can go - play-offs, maybe?"
