AC Milan are the latest club to be linked with a move for Chelsea midfield target Sami Khedira.
The German international midfielder has found opportunities limited under Jose Mourinho at the Santiago Bernabeu, leading to speculation that 'the special one' may look to cash-in on the £20 million-rated player.
Speculation in the British press last week claimed Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas was considering a bid for the 24-year-old, who has only made two appearances for Los Blancos in La Liga so far this term.
The Guardian now claims that AC Milan will offer the player 'salvation' in January, with an offer to bring the former VfB Stuttgart star to Serie 'A'.
Chelsea were busy in the summer transfer market following Villas-Boas' arrival at Stamford Bridge, bringing a handful of players to west London including Juan Mata, Romelu Lukaku and Oriol Romeu.
However, the Portuguese boss is now reported to be keen on strengthening his midfield, with Khedira's versatility as a defensive midfielder who can also score goals thought to appeal to the Chelsea manager.
With long-term injury concerns over Michael Essien and questions being raised over Frank Lampard's ability to continue at the highest level for years to come, Khedira's signature could be a significant step towards building for the long-term future at Chelsea.
