Nicolas Gaitan’s agent has revealed that numerous European clubs are interested in the Manchester United target, with a January move looking back on the cards for the winger.

This week Jose Iribarren claimed that his client was happy at Benfica, but today he has admitted that some ‘great’ clubs are keeping tabs on the star, with January looking set to be a very interesting month for Gaitan.

"I know there are great clubs observing Gaitan but, to this date, no-one has contacted me to express that interest in an official way," Iribarren told Record.

"I think this is a natural situation, as Gaitan is playing in the Champions League and has returned to the Argentina national team. It is normal there are more interested clubs in his services."

Manchester United have long been connected with a move for Gaitan, and it is likely that United are one of the clubs Iribarren is talking about.

Sir Alex Ferguson already has a large amount of wingers at United, but with Park Chu-Young reportedly considering an exit, the manager may step up his pursuit of Gaitan.
