Lionel Ainsworth grabbed a dramatic winner for Shrewsbury three minutes into stoppage time to sink brave Barnet's battlers 3-2.

The lowly Bees hit back from 2-0 down at the interval to pull level but were left empty-handed when Ainsworth stabbed home from close range after Barnet failed to deal with Joe Jacobson's last-gasp fee kick.

Shrewsbury had earlier broken the deadlock in the 31st minute with a goal of real quality. Terry Gornell provided a telling through-ball from the centre circle and midfielder Matt Richards burst clear to fire his shot beneath advancing goalkeeper Liam O'Brien.

Graham Turner's high-fliers doubled their advantage three minutes before the break, with Gornell accepting an easy chance eight yards out after Barnet captain Daniel Leach failed to clear a right-wing cross from Ainsworth.

Barnet were much better in the second half and cut the arrears in the 68th minute, Ricky Holmes tapping home after a poor defensive header from Shane Cansdell-Sherriff caught out his own keeper Chris Neal.

Lowly Barnet then deservedly levelled eight minutes from time when the lively Mark Marshall cracked a 20-yard shot beyond Neal into the far corner of the net.

But then Ainsworth popped up with his decisive strike to seal a seventh win in nine league games for Shrewsbury.
