Manchester City have stepped up their pursuit of Marek Hamsik after sending first-team coach Fausto Salsano to watch the Slovakian.
The forward's side were on the wrong end of a defeat against Russia in their penultimate Euro 2012 qualifier during the weekend, but Hamsik's performances for his club Napoli mean he's already made an impression on City.
So much so that City sent a representative to watch the forward, and Salsano admitted he's the sort of player the club could accommodate.
"It was only I that went to see Hamsik play for Slovakia. I also used to go and watch him when he played for Brescia also," he said. "He is now an important player and has gained the right experience.
"Hamsik and Lavezzi are players that we like because our goal is to do great things and win. To succeed, however, we need great players and Napoli have them."
City will face Napoli during the back end of their Champions League campaign after a draw at the Etihad Stadium on matchday one.
Manager Roberto Mancini was quoted as saying that he would find it difficult to find room in City's first team for Hamsik, despite admitting his admiration for the player.
