USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann has revealed he has received calls regarding the situation of Manchester United and Liverpool target Brek Shea.

The 21-year-old forward is regard as one of the finest prospects currently operating in the MLS, and has been attracting plenty of attention from Europe.

According to, Liverpool have had scouts monitoring Shea, while United have also been credited with interest in the young American.

And Klinsmann has now fuelled further speculation by claiming coaches have been in contact about Shea, although the German legend did not confirm whether or not United or Liverpool had approached him.

“Obviously, down the road if he keeps on playing the way he’s shown in the national team then yeah that raises a few eyebrows overseas,” said Klinsmann, according to

“I’m very aware of that because coaches call me already in regards to his situation.”

Shea, who plays for FC Dallas, has appeared six times for the USA, and Klinsmann believes he is in the right hands at Pizza Hut Park under Schellas Hyndman.

“We are really pleased with his development," added Klinsmann.

"Schellas is doing an amazing job with him. We get him for a couple of days when we are all together and we see the results of his work.

“I really don’t mind if he says he’s staying here. He brings a lot to the table for MLS and Dallas. He is still growing."

Liverpool and United, though, are said to be hoping Shea will instead further his development and Anfield or Old Trafford.
